I’ve been repeatedly cleaning my house the last two weeks to clear it from ash and debris from the fires in Los Angeles. My poor dog got conjunctivitis from the debris floating around in the air and the general mood in LA feels heavy and unsteady. The rain this last weekend was very fitting as well as needed, and I can’t believe it’s still just January.
But with everything going on at the moment, I’m not surprised everything feels off kilter. With this latest set of sweeping executive orders, a project that I’d been working on for the better part of a year just got abruptly shuttered and really feeds into the bulk of this week’s paid post topic: what to do when your platform (or project) of choice dies.

Calling Wine Lovers & Comedians: Apply for the Corkscrew Comedy Festival
The Corkscrew Comedy Festival is a new festival taking place in the Santa Ynez Valley founded by multi-hyphenate Anna Vocino. This event sees the merging of Santa Ynez locals and winemakers hosting comedy and is described as a celebration of humor, creativity, and community April 10 - 13, 2025.
If you’d like to participate, the regular deadline is 2/28. Proceeds from the event will go to benefit the Santa Ynez Valley Humane Society.
