Let's Talk About: What Some Basic PR Terms Mean, Plus Why You Need to be Using Way Back Machine.
Embargo, exclusive, media alert, etc. What the terms mean and how can you ensure you use them properly so you don't burn any bridges. Plus, do you know Way Back Machine? Get ready to change your life.
Hello and welcome to this week’s paid subscriber post! I can’t believe that summer is moving as quickly as it is but we’re already coming up on Labor Day Weekend.
Before we get into this week’s post that discusses basic PR terms and how to use them, I wanted to share a tool that I use quite frequently called Way Back Machine.
What the Heck is Way Back Machine?
If you’re not familiar with what it is, it’s an archive of the Internet and takes a snapshot of things that have been published online. Where this comes EXCEPTIONALLY handy is when you’re trying to read articles from publications that might be paywalled and as someone whose job it is to secure media hits, this is a really valuable tool for me.
Way Back Machine will allow you to look at snapshots of the Internet it’s taken.
Take for instance this incredible article featuring 100 of the Top Tacos in Los Angeles. As a long-time Angeleno, I’m embarrassed to note I’ve only been to about five places on this list, so that means that a lot of tacos are in my future.
Want to read the article? Click here.
Way Back Machine doesn’t archive everything on the Internet, particularly magazines (and paywalled Substacks ;), but it’s pretty good about taking snapshots for periodicals and dailies like the LA Times, NY Times, and others if you are unable to find someone to give you a gift link.
So happy snapping and feel free to forward this to someone who might benefit from it! (Also if you have any taco recommendations from this list that we should try first, please DM me!)
Submit Your Finished Feature Film (Narrative or Doc) To Be Promoted
Don’t forget to send me your film to promote! It costs you nothing, and I’d be happy to plug it for you. One caveat, I should have mentioned that this is for finished feature films and documentaries: we’ll open up to shorts at another time but not crowdfunding requests. ;)
Click here to submit your film.
And now onto this week’s paid post:
