Is All this Hard Work Paying Off?
It feels like it, but honestly, I don’t think I’ll ever feel comfortable taking my foot off the gas entirely, no matter how “established” things feel. So I’ll keep hustling but I’m trying to celebrate some small wins along the way, too. So I wanted to start this newsletter off by sharing a few “wins”.
I got a call in the middle of the week last week to come speak at a panel hosted by Amazon MGM Studios and Easterseals to come and talk about how I made and am marketing and releasing DARUMA. It was last minute, but of course I said yes. That was a room I 100% wanted to be in and it connected me with some incredible people and I’m grateful for the opportunity (so grateful).
I don’t know why I keep getting surprised when my work gets noticed but at this point also I don’t know if you need more proof that putting in the sweat equity for your film is the way to go. This is now three panels in the last month I’ve been invited to speak at (Gotham Week, CominCon LA and Amazon) and I have four more big invites coming up that I’ll share more info about once they become okay for me to discuss.
My point in this is that even though working with me on your film or project can help you chart a course, you still have to be the one driving your film across the finish line. Literally this is up to you. I’ll be there for you and do what needs to be done, but you gotta carry the ball down the field.
I remember my post from a few weeks ago when I spoke with a filmmaker who was looking for cheat codes on how to level up but like I said… there are no cheat codes. Unless you have a ton of money (which most of us don’t!) you just have to put in the work and the sweat equity and show up and be someone people want to work with (ie - not be a jerk!).
And with that said, I’m revealing a first-look at an ad we made for DARUMA and am inviting you all once more to come to my official trailer release event on November 8, which is now being hosted by the incredibly funny, Christopher Titus!
Sign up here for the release event, and like I said, win some awesome swag from our brand sponsors (and the list is GROWING)!
Time for A Fairytale… errr… A Farrelly Tale! Our First Official Ad for DARUMA
Since I’m dropping the official trailer for DARUMA on November 8, I’m sharing some additional sneak peeks of the film in advance to whet people’s appetites. Take a look at the first of four ads I’m releasing!

Stream ‘Advanced Chemistry’ on Amazon
I screened with filmmakers Alec Moore and Etana Jacobson on the festival circuit so of course I’m going to plug their film, ADVANCED CHEMISTRY, a sexy sexy science story!
When lovelorn biochemist Allen discovers a compound that increases human bonding, it sparks a round of mismatched lovers as he fights to put things right and save his job from his surprisingly attractive rival Lisa.
Here's the link to watch on Amazon (and give it a like!):
Why do I do this on my Subsack? Because it matters. And a rising tide lifts all ships. So readers, please support each other - it makes a HUGE difference.
If you have an indie film you’d like me to promote, click here to submit your materials. I do not promote crowdfunding campaigns but I also never charge to plug your film!
